Shepaug Friends of Music presents Gifts
to Shepaug High School Strings Program
As
part of its ongoing efforts to provide resources for music programming
and enrichment within the Shepaug Valley Region, the Shepaug Friends of
Music recently presented several awards to the newly formed "Strings
Program" at Shepaug Valley Middle and High School. At a Garden
Reception held at a private residence in Bridgewater on Saturday
evening, September 15th, President Mark Kaufman presented Friso
Hermans, Music Teacher and Coordinator of the new Strings Program, with
a check for $3,540 and a new $3,000 upright bass courtesy of the
Engelhardt-Link Bass Company
. "We have been very supportive of the Strings Program since it was brought to our
attention less than a year ago by Friso and Shepaug Principal, Eugene Horrigan", said Kaufman,
"and we are committed to further support provided our organization
continues to receive the financial support of this wonderful
community."
In addition to providing resources for
scholarships and performances by
the young people of the area, SFOM has also provided funding for the
Choral Bells and Orff Instruments at Shepaug Middle School and various
hand instruments at the elementary schools.
Shepaug Friends of Music also thanks and acknowledges
The Martin Guitar Company
for their support.
